28th August 2026 Hiking - Walking: Sunrise Felixstowe and Holywells Park, Ipswich Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: Distance Covered: Friday 28th August - walks **** – Felixstowe – sunny periods. Walk 1 – Sunrise along Felixstowe prom. Mag had set the alarm for 4.45 so I could see the lunar eclipse which was at its best at 5.15 but I woke even earlier just after 4 and looked out of the bathroom window and half the moon was covered so I got up and got a couple of pics to send to the TV weather. The bad news, my computer is taking an hour to start up and the sd card reader does not work so it took me ages to send the photos! As it was approaching sunrise I headed out again but only got to the end of our road when I saw the moon in full eclipse mood just disappearing behind some houses so some more pics and then returned home to send them in! Then I headed out again meeting up with Mag on the prom around 5.45 and joined her walk down towards The Fludyers which was really pleasant and was treated to some nice sun, although my pics failed to make the weather forecast our local newspaper used a couple online! Walk 2 – Holywells Park in Ipswich with Maeva. I managed my exercises in the back garden and pack a picnic lunch while Mag went round to pick up Maeva who was full of fun as usual. Straight upstairs to sort out today’s toys before baking yet more biscuits :) I was at a loss for today’s picnic venue but on leaving Felixstowe I decided to drive to Ipswich for a walk around the lovely Holywells Park arriving at one! Her ladyship was happy enough to be pushed in her buggy as we did a circuit of the park, it had for the most part clouded over and was breezy but that did not spoil things! A quick toilet stop at the stables and Maeva did not return to the buggy, after passing the old conservatory we walked down the long steps and headed to the kid’s playground where we feed the ducks before finding a shady spot on the grass to enjoy our picnic lunch! Then Maeva had loads of fun on the adventure park, she even went in the water area before walking all the way back to the van by which time everyone was knackered! We took the scenic route back and spot 20 deer in a stubble field and stopped for ages to watch them, Maeva loved looking at them with our binoculars even if she was using them the wrong way round! Maeva then fell sound asleep on the way back to ours and was out cold until her Dad picked her up at 6.30, another brilliant Maeva Friday! Photo Album here |
